According to Patriots insider Tom E. Curran, the Patriots have released 2014 first-round pick DT Dominique Easley.
The release reportedly came on the heels of "philosophical differences" in regards to injury and health rehabilitations. The #29 overall draft pick out of the University of Florida has been plagued by injuries for years, including torn ACLs in college and two straight trips to season-ending IR.
Coming out of college, there was no question of Easley's ability. He was regarded as a top-10 talent, but because of his injury history, he fell drastically. Easley played 22 games in his two seasons with the Patriots, while only starting three of them.
This move comes on the heels of losing DT Akiem Hicks to free agency and DE Chandler Jones in a trade to Arizona for guard Jonathan Cooper and a second-round draft pick.
