All There's Left to do is Win

That's it folks, the Bruins are now out of a playoff spot. Unless they quickly re-discover their game Thuraday and string together a ton of wins, I hate to say it but the chances of regaining that spot are not good.

Ottawa is riding an unbelievable wave right now. Hammond has been a Cinderella story for them, something that I actually enjoy to see in the game of hockey. However, not this time. Not when they are pushing my team out of a playoff spot.

Anyone who loves hockey loves to see stories like Hammond's happen from year to year. You can't disagree with that. It's what makes hockey so great, it's what makes sports so great.

I just wish the Bruins will be the one that the story is written about and not the Sens.

Dealing with injuries all year, this team seems like it has nothing left. Sunday night against the Lightning, I thought I saw a glimpse of the B's finding their game again. They got out to a quick 1-0  lead, Marchand dropped the gloves - something I love to see, and for a second I thought maybe they would win that game. That's until they feel apart defensively once again and allowed 4 straight goals, leaving Rask to be pulled.

Once again the NHL schedule has made March a living hell for the Bruins I hope that the guys have come together and realized the sad truth - if they don't play the way they can and win games, not only will they miss the playoffs but I guarantee they won't be seeing much of each other after the season.

If they don't make the playoffs, there will be a big change.

I'm starting to try to cope with that now - just to be prepared for the worst. Imagine a Chara-less Bruins, a Lucic-less Bruins, a Marchand-less Bruins. Personally I'm having a hard time doing so.

The reality is that a big change is going to come if this team fails to make the playoffs and as a fan I'm not ready for it. Change is needed, yes but do I want it to be a big one like I feel is coming? No.

Every fan has their own thoughts and opinions on who should go and who should stay. I'm not here to tell you who should go and who should stay, but I do want you to try to picture a team without one or two of its major pieces.

Let's start with Milan Lucic. The defention of a Bruin in my mind. A big, strong and tough as nails power forward who everyone is scared to play against. I know he hasn't been himself this year all the time, but I can't see this team without him. Hopefully when Krejci is back Lucic will thrive and be the leader he has shown he can be. Hopefully he can play his game, and help this team make the playoffs.

Losing Chara would also be a big blow to this team. I understand that it may need to happen now when the return can still be good. I also wouldn't hate this, as long as they got the character back somewhere else. You can't replace Chara's leadership, however, it's something that they will need to do big time if they decide to let him ago in the offseason.

Dealing away guys like Krejci, Bergeron, Marchand, and Rask are very slim and I can only hope Lucic is somewhere on that list as well.

Some guys that could get moved and not bother me at all would be Smith, Eriksson, Kelly, Paille, Seids, and even Chara.

Unfortunately I can't tell the future and if I did, I wouldn't wanna know what will happen to this team if they fail to make the playoffs. I hope Jacobs doesn't do something drastic and fire Claude or even Chiarelli. If Chiarelli still has a job I hope he doesn't do something drastic and trade Lucic or any other top six core guy - unless you're talking Smith, then I'll come pack his bags. I've complained a lot about Chiarelli, however if you look at what this team has accomplished in his time here, I don't think one bad season filled with injuries is enough to fire him.

There's nine games left this year and none of them are going to be easy. As a fan, we can only hope that the players feel the urgency and desperation, the same as we feel.

There's no way I'm ready to let Ottawa take our playoff spot and I hope every player in the Bruins dressing room feels the same way and they come out fighting for their lives every second of every game for these last nine games.
