The Celtics conclude their 3 game road trip tonight in Brooklyn for a matchup against the Nets.
So far on the road trip, the Celtics saw the return of both Al Horford and Jae Crowder from injuries. First the Celtics beat the Pacers at the buzzer with an Al Horford lay in. In Minnesota, the Celtics were able to mount an impressive comeback against a young and up and coming Timberwolves team. The Celtics tonight look to complete a sweep on the road trip.
Tonight’s game is especially important because the Celtics own the right to swap 2017 first round draft picks with the Nets. The Nets are expected to be in the bottom half of the league but have had a few close wins against good teams. The Celtics need to win these games against the Nets to ensure that the Nets have the worst possible record.
The Nets have a horrible roster aside from Brook Lopez. Lopez’s career thus far has been derailed by numerous injuries, but when healthy, he is a force. The Celtics are not the best rebounding team but they have gotten better on the boards the last few games. The Celtics need to contain Lopez if they plan on blowing this game open.
One last point to keep an eye on is the Celtics “small ball” line up. This line up consists of IT, Avery Bradley, Marcus Smart, Jae Crowder, and Al Horford. Brad Stevens has not used this line up a lot, but when on the court, the 5 have been very effective at scoring the basketball. Look to see this line up more in action tonight.
